Store bought products and expensive and full of chemicals, so I set out to make something that was inexpensive and natural. The best part? You can customize this for what you have on hand! I really like the arrowroot powder because I think it absorbs more oil, but cornstarch definitely works.
What You Need
- 1/4 cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch (powdered oatmeal also works)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (if you have dark hair)
- Mason jar and makeup brush or upcycled clean spice container
- Essential oil or fragrance oil
Directions
1. Mix arrowroot powder, cornstarch, powdered oatmeal, or a combination of them in a bowl.
2. Add unsweetened cocoa powder if you have dark hair only.
3. Add fragrance if desired. Stir well.
To use, use a makeup brush or dust the DIY dry shampoo in your hair, starting at the roots. Apply lightly and add more as needed.
Brush through your hair to absorb oil and remove dirt. Shake out excess.
I like to use it at night so it has time to absorb oil and my hair looks more natural.
