How to Get Rid of Blackheads With Baking Soda

I've tried numerous products that promise to get rid of blackheads in the last 10 years.  Some worked better than others, but none completely removed the stubborn blemishes.  When I stumbled upon this easy blackhead removing mask, I didn't think it would work because it was too easy. I had a cabinet full of products and $100s of dollars invested, so how could such an inexpensive product like baking soda work to cure my blackheads?  I was surprised, and I'm sure you will be too!  You probably already have the baking soda in your cupboard, so what do you have to lose?

How Baking Soda Works on Blackheads

Blackheads are formed when dirt, oil, and dead skin cells clog your pores.  The debris gets trapped inside your pores and turns dark in color when it oxidizes with air.  In order to get rid of blackheads, you need to exfoliate, reduce oil, and keep your face clean.

Baking soda is abrasive, so it exfoliates dead skin cells.  It is also a natural degreaser, which makes it perfect to dissolve oil.

How to Make a Baking Soda Facial Mask

Making our own mask is easy!  Just mix about a tablespoon of baking soda with enough water to make a thick paste.  Then gently place all over your face avoiding the eye area.  Let sit for 15 minutes until dry and rinse.

If you have very sensitive skin, you may feel some irritation.  Rinse the mask off if your skin gets itchy or feels irritated.

Some women like to scrub their faces before they let it dry.  This is a very effective facial scrub, but I find that it is too harsh for my skin.

You can use this recipe all over your body if you have blackheads on your shoulders, arms, or anywhere else.
