I'm sharing two DIY essential oil perfume spray recipes that you can easily make at home. You can use your favorite essential oils or blends to make your own perfume.

These are easy recipes, but there are a few things that you should know. I'll explain why I chose the ingredients in each recipe and how to make essential oil body spray recipe and how to help the scent last longer.

How Do You Make Natural Body Spray With Essential Oils?

How Do I Make My Body Spray Last Longer?

I'm going to show you two ways to learn how to make essential oil body spray recipe. The first one uses cyclomethicone, and the second uses witch hazel or a hydrosol.

Unfortunately, essential oil perfumes and body sprays don't last a long time. The essential oils evaporate quickly, but here are some tips to help it last longer.

Spray only your bare skin
Apply to pulse points like your inner wrists, base of neck, behind your ears, or in your inner elbows.
Don't rub it it; let it naturally evaporate.
Reapply after a few hours.
Use a fixative.
Use cyclomethicone and not witch hazel or a hydrosol.
Apply refined coconut oil to your skin and apply one of these DIY essential oil perfume spray recipes on top of it.

Is Essential Oil or Fragrance Oil Better?

It's personal preference. They both have their pros and cons.

Essential oils are natural and have aromatherapy benefits. You can create essential oil blends that smell good, but the first reason for choosing an oil should be for aromatherapy.

However, when you learn how to make essential oil body spray recipe, you'll soon find out that essential oil perfume does not last long.

The oils are volatile, and they evaporate quickly.

Fragrance oils are not natural, so some people don't like to use them. They come in a variety of types of scents that you just can't find in essential oils.

Fragrance oils do last longer than essential oils. If you want to use a fragrance oil, you can use it in the same amount or adjust to your taste. Some are really strong, and others are weaker.

Do not adjust the amount of essential oils in this DIY essential oil perfume spray recipes though. I formulated them at a safe usage rate.

What is the Best Carrier Oil for Perfume?

You can use a carrier oil with either the cyclomethicone or the witch hazel recipe. I suggest using fractionated coconut oil, sesame oil, or jojoba oil.

These oils are slower to be absorbed, so they help the essential oils sit on top of your skin longer. They aren't greasy, so you won't feel oily after learning how to make essential oil body spray recipe.

Cyclomethicone

The base of one of the DIY essential oil perfume spray recipes is cyclomethicone. Cyclomethicone is often used in skin care and hair care products, and it's an excellent base for DIY essential oil perfume spray recipes.

Cyclomethicone is clear, odorless, and don't contain alcohol. It doesn't make your skin feeling sticky or oily after you use it.

Cyclomethicone spread across your skin without actually penetrating the skin because it has a large molecule size. It feels silky on the skin because it rests on top.

It's not an oil, but it's called a dry oil. It isn't a carrier oil, but it does help carry other ingredients, including essential oils.

Because cyclomethicone sits on top of the skin, it helps the scent last longer when you learn how to make essential oil body spray recipe.

Witch Hazel or Hydrosols

However, can also learn how to make essential oil body spray recipe with witch hazel or hydrosol. Witch hazel can be used straight and doesn't need to be diluted to use on the skin.

You can also use a hydrosol. Hydrosols have some skin benefits, but it depends on which one you use as far as which benefits they have.

Hydrosols sometimes have a natural color in them, so keep that in mind when learning how to make essential oil body spray recipe.

There are many kinds of hydrosol, and you can use one that is the same as the essential oils you use or complements the ones you use.

If you use either witch hazel or hydrosol, then you'll have to use some vodka as a preservative. I don't recommend using rubbing alcohol because it can irritate your skin and lungs.

Essential Oils

You can technically use any essential oil for these DIY essential oil perfume spray recipes. I would recommend not using cinnamon or other hot oil because they can be irritating.

Also watch using a citrus oil if you will be in the sun. They can make you more susceptible to a burn.

You can use one oil or use your favorite blend. For a fun scent, try one of these fun essential oil blends that smell like candy.

You can also use a single oil. Lavender, lime, and sweet orange are really good for perfume.

To create your own blend, mix the oils in a 5 ml amber bottle. Then use the number of drops from that bottle to make one of these DIY essential oil perfume spray recipes.

Using a Fixative

As I mentioned previously, when you learn how to make essential oil body spray recipe the scent will not last long because essential oils evaporate quicker than fragrance oils.

Fixatives help slow down the rate at which they evaporate. Your DIY essential oil perfume spray recipes will last longer if you use a fixative. However, I don't always use one. Sometimes I want a specific scent and don't mind reapplying.

2 ounces cyclomethicone (or 1 ounce cyclomethicone and 1 ounce fractionated coconut oil)

1 ounce witch hazel or hydrosol
1 ounce vodka
12 drops essential oils

2 ounce amber spray bottle
funnel

Essential Oil Perfume Spray Directions

Add essential oils to an empty 2 ounce spray bottle
Add the cyclomethicone or the witch hazel or hydrosol.
Replace the cap.
Shake gently to combine.
