Michael Todd Beauty sent me a Total Refresher to review, but I was not compensated for my review. As always, all enthusiasm is my own.
As a Michael Todd ambassador, I was lucky enough to get their newest device, Total Refresher, before it will be released for sale on 7/24/17. My complexion is fairly good, but I do have some fine lines that are creeping up on me. I also struggle with large pores on my nose and cheeks and blackheads on my nose.

My complexion is fairly good, but I do have some fine lines that are creeping up on me. I also struggle with large pores on my nose and cheeks and blackheads on my nose.
The Total Refresher is one device that works in three ways. It exfoliates, extracts debris from pores, and sprays your favorite toner to infuse your skin to soothe and refresh. Keep reading for my Michael Todd Total Refresher review.
What is the Total Refresher?
The Total Refresher is the latest device from Michael Todd. It is made for congested pores, enlarged pores, fine lines, and uneven skin tone. It's perfect for skin that needs a little refreshing. It's like a spa day at home and without the expensive bill at the end!
In the box, you'll find the rechargeable Total Refresher device, a diamond tip microdermabrasion head, three suction cups, and a USB charging cord. It also comes with a two year limited warranty.
How to Use the Michael Todd Total Refresher
Step 1: Microdermabrasion
Before you use the Total Refresher, you need to start with clean skin. It's best to wash your face and use something to dissolve excess oil, like the Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Cleanser.
The first step is to smooth your skin with the diamond tip microdermabrasion. You use this on clean, dry skin once a week for 5 minutes for dry skin and twice a week for 5 minutes for oily skin.
Before you use the microdermabrasion, wash your face and lay a warm, wet washcloth on your face for 3-5 minutes to open your pores. Dry your face before using the Total Fresher.
Start with the lowest intensity level and glide the device across your skin, avoiding the eye area. Use your free hand to pull your skin taut.
When finished, use the Mist Sprayer to spray your skin with your favorite toner. This will close your pores so they stay clear longer.
Step 2: Pore Cleaning
There are three suction cups for cleaning your pores.
- Large Pore Extractor for all areas, except close to your eyes
- The Small Pore Extractor for sensitive areas, including the eye area
- The Oval Pore Extractor for fine lines
After your pores are clean, they are able to absorb more of your skin care products, which means better results from your favorite products. I used my moringa oil facial toner, but the Michael Todd Blue Green Algae Toner is also an excellent choice.
Step 3: Soothing
After you've used the device, it's time to soothe your skin. You can use your favorite toner in the device. Filling it is easy; just take the cover off of the back and use the funnel or squeeze bottle to fill it. It micronizes the toner to infuse it in to your pores to boost your toner's effectiveness.
My Results
When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was how lightweight the device is. Since I'm using it for several minutes at a time, that's definitely appreciated.
I read the directions and then started changing attachments so I could see how it worked. It's very self-explanatory, but the directions do give some tips, so don't skip them.
I cleansed with the Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Cleanser and opened my pores with a wet washcloth. Then I used the diamond tip for microdermabrasion on the low setting.
While I wouldn't say that it hurt, I did feel it moving across my skin. It was very easy to use and very easy to change between the four different heads.
If you've never had microdermabrasion before, be warned that your skill will get red. This is totally normal! Mine was red for about two hours.
My face is so soft and smooth! I'll definitely be using this once a week to help my fine lines and clear out my pores.
If you're ready for super soft skin, get the Total Refresher at Soft Surroundings or Michael Todd Beauty.
