Make a foot exfoliator scrub loofah soap recipe to naturally remove dead skin cells. This easy soap exfoliates with loofah and ground almonds while aloe powder softens your skin.
Random trivia about me: I hate wearing shoes and socks. I try not to hate anything, but I really do hate socks and shoes. Always have.
I'm the one wearing sandals until the snow starts flying. In the fall, I'm wearing jeans, a hoodie, and flip flops.
Because of this, my feet tend to get dry and rough. Sandals are killer for your heels and don't help with dry skin.
I'm prone to dry skin anyway, so I have to take care of my feet pretty well with lotions and scrubs.
I like using loofah as a natural foot exfoliator scrub, so I used it in a bar of soap so it serves double duty by exfoliating as it cleanses. It's also moisturizing thanks to aloe vera powder.
FOOT EXFOLIATOR SCRUB LOOFAH SOAP RECIPE
While this is a great foot exfoliator scrub loofah soap recipe, it has some limitations. If your feet are cracked or have thick callouses, this won't get them soft overnight.
This foot exfoliator scrub is more for maintenance or if your feet are mildly calloused. Use it daily if you have some callouses or two times a week or even weekly if your feet are already soft.
If your feet have thick callouses, I highly recommend Baby Foot. I used a few years ago, and I loved it. It really did get rid of the dead skin and callouses. (Here's my Baby Foot review for more information.)
Now I just do maintenance with a good lotion (I'm currently using my dandelion solid lotion bars) and a foot exfoliator scrub like this loofah soap recipe.

This exfoliating loofah soap isn't just for your feet. You can use it all over your body to exfoliate. It's great for your hands, elbows, and knees too. Just don't use it on your face.
MELT AND POUR SOAP
I used white Crafty Bubbles melt and pour soap for this foot exfoliator scrub loofah soap recipe. You can use any white or clear soap base; I just happen to like the white better for a loofah soap. It's personal preference, so use what you want.
I used a regular base, but you can use shea butter your preferred base with additives. I did not use a suspension base even though I added ground nuts for extra exfoliation.
I pour at a lower temperature, so my additives don't sink and I don't need to buy a suspension base. If you do have a suspension base, this would be a good recipe to use it in.
GROUND ALMONDS
I added ground almonds for some extra power in this foot exfoliator scrub loofah soap recipe. I bought my almonds already ground, and they work really well in soap. You can grind your own with a coffee mill or food processor.
You can also use ground pumice in this recipe. I don't have any in my stash, but I think it would exfoliate better than the almonds.
ALOE VERA POWDER
Since my feet are always dry, I added some aloe vera powder. It's said to be healing when used topically. I like using the powder because it's fairly inexpensive and you can use more in soap and other recipes without adding water.
I also used aloe vera powder to create an oil infusion to make my aloe vera salve recipe.
ESSENTIAL OILS
I used peppermint essential oil and tea tree oil to make my foot exfoliator scrub loofah soap. Peppermint is cooling thanks to the menthol, so it feels great on tired feet.
Tea tree oil is naturally antimicrobial, so it can kill bacteria and fungi. After wearing sandals all day, it's probably a good idea to use something to kill germs.
You could swap them out for eucalyptus because it is also cooling and a natural anti-inflammatory.
Rosemary would also be a good choice, especially if you have arthritis in your feet.
Lavender is also said to help reduce joint and muscle pain. Juniper berry essential oil is naturally antimicrobial, so you can swap it for the tea tree oil if you have it.
LOOFAH
Loofah is a natural product that's made from the inner parts of a tropical fruit that looks like a gourd. This fiberous inner part is like a natural sponge. It's dried and then used to exfoliate the body naturally and gently.
I used a large loofah for this foot exfoliator scrub and cut it into 1 inch slices. You can also use loofah slices in your soap. Just place them in the mold and pour the soap over them.
MICA
I used mica to color my foot exfoliator scrub loofah soap recipe. I like mica because it doesn't fade in soaps. I bought this set of mica, and I'll be using it forever.
It's just easier to buy one product that I can use for all kinds of projects than buy different colorants.
FOOT EXFOLIATOR SCRUB INGREDIENTS
- 16 ounce melt and pour soap
- 1/2 tablespoon ground almonds or pumice
- 1/2 tablespoon aloe vera powder
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint essential oil
- 1/2 teaspoon tea tree oil
- Red mica
- 4 loofah slices
TOOLS
FOOT EXFOLIATOR SCRUB DIRECTIONS
STEP #1
Cut your loofah into 1 to 1.5 inch slices. I used a steak knife. Some people soak the loofah in water before cutting, but I don't like to do it that way. It squishes like you're cutting a loaf of fresh bread.
STEP #2
Soak the loofah slice in water for a few minute to soften them and plump them up. Squeeze the excess water out and place in the mold.
STEP #3
Cut the soap into 1 inch cubes. Place in the measuring cup or a glass bowl. Microwave in 30 second bursts until melted. Stir each 30 seconds before restarting.
STEP #4
When the soap is melted, add the ground almonds, aloe vera powder, and mica. When the temperature is below 160 degrees Fahrenheit, add the essential oils and stir well.
STEP #5
Let the soap cool to about 125 degrees so the ground almond and mica stay suspended. Pour the soap over the mica in the mold. Let sit until hardened.
Once they are hardened, you can pop them out of the mold and use them right away. I like to let my soap sit for a few days to fully harden, but they are safe to use as soon as you unmold them.
Water is the enemy of melt and pour soap. It will get soft and turn to mush if it sits in water. Use a soap dish to keep it dry and don't store in the shower.
I really like this metal soap dish. I was using wood soap dishes, but they kept getting icky and they aren't easy to clean.
The metal one is so easy to clean. I plug the sink and cover them with warm water and let them sit while I clean a few minutes. Then drain the water and use a cloth to wipe them clean. The soap will come right off.
