This is an easy and low sugar Christmas punch recipe that you can make to serve at your holiday parties. The delicious cranberry and orange flavor works well for New Year's Eve or any other party where you want a drink for a crowd. You can make this sugar free punch recipes with or without alcohol.
This year, we have a few Christmas parties, so I'll be taking this low sugar Christmas Punch recipe. I love this recipe because it's easy to put together, so I usually just take the chilled bottles and make it wherever we will be.
It's also easy to make this low sugar punch alcoholic or not. One party will have a lot of kids, so I'll make it a low calorie punch recipes non alcoholic..
But we have a few parties where mine will be the only kids there, so I'll add some vodka for a low sugar alcoholic punch, and my kids can have something else.
I'm calling this sugar free Christmas punch since it doesn't have added sugar or sugar in any soda like most punch recipes do, but it still has sugar in the fruit juice and the fruit.
If you are diabetic or will be serving this to diabetics, be aware and warn them that this is a low sugar punch and there is still some natural sugar in it.
For a traditional Christmas punch recipe, you can still swap the pop for a diet version.
Low Sugar Christmas Punch Recipe (Alcoholic or Not)
I love how easy this low sugar Christmas punch is to make. I usually just chill all of my juices and put them in the cooler with ice.
When I get there, I can dump the juices in a pretty pitcher, add the garnishes, and we have a low sugar punch in under 5 minutes.
No matter where you make it, you want to chill each ingredient before you make it. Sugar free punch recipes tastes better when everything is cold.
If you don't chill your low sugar punch, you can add ice. That waters it down, but it will keep it cold. I usually add some ice as the night goes on to keep it cold.
Can You Make Christmas Punch Ahead of Time?
Yes! You can make this low sugar punch without the club soda up to 4 hours before you want to serve it. The club soda will start to go flat about an hour after you add it, but it will still taste yummy.
I actually recommend making it at least an hour before you want to serve it because it gives the flavors time to meld.
Christmas Punch for Kids
If you're making this for kids, just omit the alcohol to make low sugar punch recipes non alcoholic. Kids love it because it looks pretty with the garnishes. Just make sure little ones don't get cranberries in their cups because they could choke on them.
Cranberry Juice
When you're shopping for cranberry juice, look at the labels carefully. Cranberry juice is tart, so almost all of them have added sugar and are usually called a cocktail.
I usually grab a lite or low sugar juice. You can get a sugar free cranberry juice, but it may be hard to find. You may need to add coconut sugar or stevia if you use a sugar free juice.
You can also use use this canned cranberry juice recipe to make your own juice.
Club Soda
Part of the fun of Christmas punch is the bubbly and fruity flavor. Most recipes call for ginger ale. I use club soda to get the bubbles without the calories for low calorie punch recipes non alcoholic.
You can use diet ginger ale or a diet citrus soda. It tastes a little off to me, but I'm not a fan of diet soft drinks anyway.
Orange Juice
I add some orange juice to give this a more complex flavor. Orange juice is also high in sugar, so I look for the light or 50 calorie orange juice to use for a low sugar punch.
Low Sugar Christmas Punch Garnishes
I like to garnish with whole cranberries, orange slices, and lime slices. I also add a few star anise and cinnamon sticks to give it more flavor and to look pretty.
Vodka
If you want to add some alcohol for low sugar alcoholic punch, add a cup of vodka. I've also seen recipes with gin or triple sec. I don't usually keep gin, rum, or triple sec.
I pretty much only keep vodka at the house because I use it for DIY room sprays and for vanilla extract. Since it's what I keep on hand, that's what I add.
You can also use a sparkling wine or a dry white wine if you want. You can add more wine than you would vodka.
Adding alcohol is completely optional. If there are kids around, make sure it's labeled properly because it looks so pretty for kids.
You can also make a low sugar punch recipes non alcoholic for the kids and keep the vodka off to the side. Each guest can add their own if desired.
