How many lip balms do you have? I have one in the car, one in my purse, one beside my bed, one in my desk drawer, and at least two more floating around the house or in a pocket.
When I saw this lemon meringue essential oil lip balm recipe in the Simply Earth Essential Oil Starter Box, I was so excited. I love bakery scented lip balms.
I'm not a huge fan of lemon, but this sounded really good. And it is so yummy smelling!

Beeswax
Beeswax is what gives this lip balm its structure and bulk. It's also great for your skin. It's moisturizing, and it is an antioxidant.
Beeswax also forms a protective barrier on your lips. This helps seal in moisture and hold the other ingredients next to your lips so they can work longer.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil also helps harden this lip balm. It's moisturizing on your lips. Sometimes I use plain coconut oil to moisturize my lips.
Like the beeswax, it also helps form a barrier and lock in moisture.
Coconut oil can help reduce inflammation. It's also antibacterial, so it can protect your lips from a secondary infection if your lips are cracked or chapped.
Almond Oil
Almond oil is a great all purpose oil for your skin and lips. It's not a heavy oil, so it won't leave your lips feeling oily.
Almond oil has vitamin E to keep your lips healthy and protect against damage from UV rays.
Almond oil can also help exfoliate the lips. If your lips are dry or chapped, it can help remove dead skin cells.
I highly recommend using a lip scrub recipe if your lips are dry or chapped. It really helps the lip balm work better for me.
Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense essential oil is one of my favorite essential oils for the skin. It helps tone the skin and strengthen it. It's also naturally anti-inflammatory and can promote tissue regeneration.
If you have chapped lips, frankincense can help promote the formation of new skin cells for healing.
It's no wonder frankincense made my list of best essential oils for skin!
Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon essential oil is high in vitamin C, which is an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals. It helps even the skin tone and acts like astringent.
It also helps tighten the skin for smoother looking skin.
Do note that lemon essential oils is considered photosensitive. If you use it and are exposed to UV light too quickly, you can get redness, itching, burning, and inflammation.
Do not use this lemon meringue essential oil lip balm if you will be outside for extended periods or going tanning or be otherwise exposed to UV light.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon beeswax
- 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoon almond oil
- 3 drops Frankincense essential oil
- 4 drops Lemon essential oil
(Note: The Simply Earth coconut oil is very firm. If you are using a coconut oil that is soft at room temperature, decrease the almond oil to 1 teaspoon.)
Tools
- Double boiler
- 2 lip balm tubes
- Spoon
Directions
Step #1
Melt beeswax and coconut oil in a double boiler.
Step #2
Once it's melted, carefully remove from heat. Stir in the almond oil and essential oils.
Step #3
Carefully pour into lip balm tubes. If there is any left over, I pour it into a small mold and use it as a solid lotion. I had quite a bit left over and could have made three tubes since I used more almond oil, but I'll use it as a solid lotion at my desk.

How to make a lemon meringue lip balm recipe with essential oils.
materials:
- 1 tablespoon beeswax
