The world is crazy right now. I've spent the last two weeks bring you timely pieces to hopefully help you own while the stores are low on inventory.
I have to be creative or I go a little crazy. I have to make pretty things to keep my mind calm. This week, I'm getting back to pretty and fun DIYs.
The first thing that I'm making is this DIY unicorn rainbow poop soap with melt and pour soap. This is something that has been on to do list for quite a while, but I hadn't gotten around to it. This week seemed like the perfect time to finally get it scratched off of my list.
One of the reasons I didn't make this before was because of the mold. I was going to buy a special mold, but then I realized that I could repurpose a mold I already have. This helps me save money and storage space, and I'm sure you'll appreciate being able to use a mold in more than one way.
How to Make DIY Unicorn Rainbow Poop Soap With Melt and Pour Soap
This is a very fun DIY, but it's really easy to make. It does take four pours, so plan on it taking a few hours from start to finish. You can take a break between pours and do other things, so the actual time spent making the soap is more like an hour.

Mold
I was going to by the Rosanna Pansino by Wilton silicone poop emoji mold to make my unicorn rainbow poop soap. Admittedly, it has a better shape than what I used. I didn't buy it because I have three bins of mold. I will only use that mold once before it takes up space in a storage bin.
Instead, I used the top part of the cupcake mold that I already have. I used this mold to make Oatmeal Cream Pie cupcake soaps, and I know that I'll use it to make more cupcakes soon.
I think tilting the mold made it look like a swirl even though the mold is actually circles.
Melt and Pour Soap
You can use any white melt and pour soap for this unicorn rainbow poop soap. I used the Crafty Bubbles white soap.
Colorant
I like to use mica when I'm layering melt and pour soap. Food coloring fades, so I don't recommend ever using that to color soap. Liquid soap colorant doesn't fade, but it can bleed into other colors.
Mica doesn't fade, and it doesn't bleed either. This set of mica has 24 colors, so you have a lot of options. The bags are small, but you only use a little bit at a time.
Body Safe Glitter
I added some body safe glitter because glitter! Everything is better with glitter, amiright?
I bought this set of body safe glitter. It's very fine, so it's great for soaps and other DIY bath and body. The prices is great, too. Not all colors are listed on Amazon, but it is a set of 6.
You can also use a biodegradable body safe glitter.
Unicorn Kisses Natural Fragrance Oil
Last year, I wanted a natural Unicorn fragrance oil. I asked the owner of Crafty Bubbles to make me something fun with some fruits or berries, and he created Unicorn Kisses.
It's a light and fun blend of berries and fruits. I don't know exactly what's in it, but they are essential oils and natural fragrance oils.
It's available on Amazon in their Bakery Favorites set.
Or try one of these fun essential oil blends that smell like candy.
If you are making this for kids, make sure you use kid safe essential oils.
Kid safe oils include:
- Sweet Orange (kid safe 2+)
- Lavender (kid safe 2+)
- Lime (kid safe 10+)
- Peace and Quiet (kid safe 10+)
- Happy Joy blend (kid safe 10+)
- Lemon (kid safe 2+)
- Tranquility (kid safe 2+)
Ingredients
- 9 ounces white melt and pour soap
- 1/2 teaspoon Unicorn Kisses natural fragrance oil
- Pink, purple, yellow, and blue mica
- Pink, purple, gold, and blue body safe glitter (I used this set)
Tools and Supplies
- Cupcake mold
- 2-cup Pyrex measuring cup
- Spoons
- Digital scale
- Spray bottle with rubbing alcohol
Directions
Step #1
Cut 2 ounces by weight of white melt and pour soap. Microwave for 20 seconds. It should be melted. If there are small chunks, stir to melt them.
Step #2
I didn't want my layers to be completely flat, so I propped the mold on the sides to squish it. This brought the center of the mold up so the cavities were not flat. Divide the soap between the cavities evenly. Spray with rubbing alcohol and let cool for 20 minutes.
Step #3
Repeat with three more colors. I moved the mold and propped it different ways to make the lines different.
Spray the cooled soap with rubbing alcohol before each new pour and spray after pouring.

Step #4
For the final color, lay the mold flat and melt and soap as directed above. Pour the soap to fill the molds.
I recommend melting another ounce of soap with this pour just to ensure that you have enough. You can pour extra soap into one of the cupcake bottoms so it's not wasted.
I just love how these DIY unicorn rainbow poop soaps turned out! Shhhh don't tell anyone, but I'm giving them to my daughter's play director as a thanks for being awesome.
