Do Pillow Sprays Help You Sleep?
This pillow mist for sleep has essential oils that promote better sleep. I do notice a difference when I use oils. However, they don't really affect my husband.
I've made rollers for friends. It's worked for some, other don't see much of a difference. My daughter says they don't work for her, but she does fall asleep faster when she uses the roller I made her.
I think that essential oils can promote better sleep and give your body a gentle nudge towards sleep. However, if you suffer from insomnia or have another medical condition, then they may not work. Talk to your doctor if you think there's more going on.

Sleepy is a blend of Lavender, Grapefruit, Ho Wood, & Bergamot. Before I made this pillow spray for sleep, I used it on a passive diffuser beside my bed every night.
I also like the Sleep essential oil blend from Mountain Rose Herbs. It's a blend of organic clary sage essential oil, organic bergamot essential oil, organic lavender oil, organic sweet marjoram essential oil, and organic Roman chamomile essential oil.

How Do You Make Homemade Pillow Spray Recipe?
A pillow spray for sleep is easy to make. You'll need essential oils and a liquid base. The base can be water, alcohol, or witch hazel.
You can also add an emulsifier. You can also add a preservative, but we will get into that in below.
Can You Mix Essential Oils With Water for a Spray?
Technically, yes you can. However, the oils and water won't mix. Since you aren't applying this directly to your skin, you can safely do that. Just shake it each time you use it.
However, the water can grow mold, bacteria, and other germs. You will need to use a preservative or use alcohol to prevent germs.
Otherwise, you will have to store it in the fridge or use it only for 2 to 3 days at a time.
Can I Put Essential Oils on my Pillow?
Yes, you can with a pillow mist for sleep. I don't recommend just adding a drop or two of essential oils to your pillows for a few reasons.
Essential oils are very concentrated. I add three drops to my passive diffuser each night. If you just add oils to your pillow, they will be very concentrated and could be too strong.
They can also irritate your skin if you use them undiluted on your skin. Laying your head on the pillow can cause redness and even a rash since the oil isn't diluted.
I highly recommend making a pillow spray for sleep and learning how to use pillow mist instead of adding oils to your pillow.
What To Mix With Essential Oils to Make a Spray?
You can use water, vodka, rubbing alcohol, or witch hazel. If you use water, you will need to use a preservative or store it in the fridge.
Rubbing alcohol can cause lung problems, so I don't recommend using it on your pillow. Breathing in the fumes can cause coughing, and touching it can irritate your skin.
I would recommend vodka or witch hazel. I used witch hazel because it's inexpensive and doesn't smell like vodka does.
Emulsifier
Essential oils are oil based. If you use water to make this pillow mist for sleep, then you will to use an emulsifier for them to mix. An emulsifier combines the oils and water.
However, you do not need to use one. Since you are spraying this on your pillow and not on your skin, you do not need an emulsifier. You can simply shake this pillow spray for sleep well before using it.
If you do want to use an emulsifier, I recommend using polysorbate 80. To use, combine equal parts poly 80 and essential oils and add that to the pillow mist for sleep recipe.
