What Essential Oils Are Good For Shower?

For example, if I have a cough or congestion, then I turn to eucalyptus and other essential oils for sinus headache.
I also use aromatherapy for waking up or to promote sleep.
Here are some of my favorite blends to use for a shower diffuser DIY:
You can also create your own blends to use for your essential oils shower diffuser. You can use a blending factor worksheet to create custom blends.
How Do You Diffuse Essential Oils in the Shower?
What to learn how to use essential oils in the shower? These are several ways to make a homemade shower diffuser and use oils in other ways. Some have some prep work, like shower steamers, but others can be used without any special equipment or prep.
Steam Cup
This is perhaps the easiest way to learn how to use essential oils in the shower. Simply take a plastic cup and fill it with a few ounces of water.
Then add 4 to 6 drops of your favorite essential oil. Place the cup in the corner of the shower or on the back of the tub.
As the steam heats up the water, it releases the oils for an aromatherapy spa.
Wash Cloth
You can also wet a wash cloth with water and place 2-3 drops of essential oils on the wash cloth. Then hang it from the faucet.
The steam will grab the oils and create a vapor that fills your shower. This is an incredibly easy homemade shower diffuser to use.
Shower Steamers
Shower steamers are like a bath bomb, but they are made for the shower. When you activate them with water, they release essential oils for aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy Shower Mist
A very easy way to use essential oils in the shower is to make a DIY shower mist. You can make a small amount at a time and make several bottles to use depending on your needs.
Tea Ball or Organza Bag
You can also use a tea ball or a muslin bag as a diffuser. If you do use the tea ball, don't reuse it for making tea.
Simply fill with bath salts and add a 2-3 drops of essential oils. Then hang from the faucet or shower caddy.
Bath Salts
Bath salts are usually used in the bathtub, but you can also make a bath salt mixture to use as a shower diffuser. This is like an easy shower steamer, and you can use it right away.
Simply combine 1 1/2 cups of Epsom salt or dead sea salt and 10 to 15 drops of essential oils and stir well.
Sprinkle this mixture on the bottom of the shower.
Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash
If you don't want to diffuse oils, you can learn how to use essential oils in the shower in your shampoo, conditioner, or body wash.
I don't recommend adding oils to store bought bottles because they are formulated for the recipe that they use. Adding other ingredients can break the emulsion or render the preservative useless.
Instead, you can add 1-2 drops of essential oils to what you're using right then.
If you want to use your own essential oil blends but don't want to make the products from scratch, then I recommend using an unscented body wash base, unscented shampoo base, and an unscented conditioner base.

Aromatherapy Shower Heads
If you want to use oils every time you shower, then you might want to consider an essential oils shower diffuser shower head. This gives you spa experience with every shower.
This Moen aromatherapy shower head has capsules of essential oils that you can use for your shower.
One thing to note is that you have to use their capsules. They may not be kid or pet safe.
Lava Rock Diffuser
You can also make a lava rock diffuser to use essential oils in shower. It's inexpensive and easy to make.
Simply hang a lava rock diffuser from the shower head. Then add 2 to 3 drops of essential oils to it before you get in the shower.
The steam makes the lava rock release the scent of the oils.
I switch my oils using the same lava rock diffuser. However, they are inexpensive so you could buy a few different ones to use with different oils.
Now you know how to diffuse essential oils in the shower! I hope these shower diffuser DIY ideas help you out!
